Demetrios has been around since 1980, when James Demetrios Elias bought a small New York bridal company called Ilissa Bridals and built it into an international brand. Elias was born in Greece, moved to the US as a boy, and learned the business in his family's bridal shop in Warren, Ohio, and he is still the principal designer more than 40 years later, with his daughter Eleni running communications and creative. The company is based in New York with a presence in Milan, and the name is known for gowns with lots of embellishment and traditional shapes, though newer collections include simpler, minimalist options too. It is really a family of lines, including Demetrios, Platinum by Demetrios, Cosmobella and Oreasposa, so the price spread is wide. Most gowns in our catalog land around $2,100 to $4,300.
